Dr. Shayne Guffey
Originally from Oregon, Dr. Shayne Guffey spent much of his childhood in a small farming town before moving to Portland, where he graduated high school and later earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from Oregon Health Sciences University. Growing up in two worlds — rural and urban — he was able to explore diverse interests, like hunting pheasants and attending Shakespeare festivals.
An appreciation for a wide range of interests defines Dr. Guffey both personally and professionally. He enjoys the many facets of dentistry as well as the variety of patients he has the pleasure of serving. Learning about his patients’ unique interests is a particular joy for Dr. Guffey; he loves discovering new things to explore. His current hobbies include travel, backpacking, photography, chasing solar eclipses, reading fiction, and vibe coding.
In everything he does, he strives for excellence in the details. An avid photographer, Dr. Guffey finds satisfaction in capturing an image just right to evoke a particular emotion. Similarly, he brings artistry into his dentistry, taking care in the details and pride in his work. And what is most satisfying to him is partnering with his patients to understand their needs and preferences and providing the best-fit solution. In addition to serving patients, Dr. Guffey looks for opportunities to build up his team and provide mentorship to other dentists.
Dr. Guffey lives in Mesa with his wife of over 30 years. Together, they have raised four sons. In the East Valley, Dr. Guffey finds so much to enjoy: the friendliness and diversity of the people here as well as the beautiful weather, mountains, and sunsets.
